
A BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH
After an extended public search, the Riverside County Board
of Supervisors voted unanimously to appoint Paul McDonnell Treasurer-Tax Collector on
February 10. He assumed office March 21, 1998. Prior to his selection he spent nineteen
years in the financial services industry, including fourteen years with Wall Street firms,
specializing in local government finance. During this time he served some of California's
biggest cities and counties, including the County of Riverside.
Mr. McDonnell's academic background includes an MBA (Finance)
from UCLA and BA degree (Political Science) from the University of California, Berkeley.
He is a native Californian and married with four children. Mr. McDonnell is available to
speak to groups on the subject of County finances.
The Treasurer-Tax Collector's office has a staff of 52. It
collects approximately $1 billion in taxes, processes approximately $4 billion in total
annual receipts and manages a $1.6 billion portfolio. The office not only manages funds on
behalf of County government, but it also provides a similar function for most of the
school districts within the County, as well as other public agencies.
