NOTICE TO
TAXPAYERS
COUNTY OF RIVERSIDE - STATE
OF CALIFORNIA
In accordance with the provisions of Sections
2608 through 2610, Revenue and Taxation Code, State of California, notice is hereby given
to the taxpayers of the County of Riverside, State of California, that all real and
personal property taxes for the 1998-99 fiscal year will be payable on and subsequent to
October 1, 1998.
The Treasurer-Tax Collector will be mailing
out tax bills on 639,588 parcels totaling $964,844,205.30. Tax bills should be in the
hands of the taxpayer after October 1, 1998 and not later than October 15, 1998, with the
exception of those taxpayers who have failed to keep their mailing address current with
the County Assessor=s office. If you own property in Riverside County and fail to receive
a tax bill, please contact the Tax Collector's office immediately either by telephone,
letter, Internet website, or in person.
Secured taxes are payable in two
installments. The first installment of the 1998-99 secured taxes is due November 1, 1998
and is delinquent at 5:00 p.m. on December 10, 1998 and thereafter a 10% penalty will be
added. The second installment of secured taxes will be due February 1, 1999 and is
delinquent at 5:00 p.m. on April 12, 1999 (April 10 falls on Saturday therefore the
delinquent day is extended to the next business day) and thereafter a 10% penalty plus
$10.00 cost will be added. Both installments may be paid when the first installment is
due.
Payments may be made at the office of the
Treasurer-Tax Collector, County Administrative Center, 4th Floor, 4080 Lemon Street,
Riverside; mailed to P O Box 12005, Riverside, CA 92502-2205; or paid electronically by
telephone using Visa, Mastercard, or Discover Card credit cards. The credit card payment
option will be available on Friday, October 16, 1998.
Normal office hours are 9:00 a.m. to 4:00
p.m., Monday through Friday, except certain dates when state law sets 5:00 p.m. deadlines.
The Treasurer-Tax Collector's office is closed on weekends and legal holidays.
Taxpayers may make inquiries for both current
and prior year secured property tax information; request a duplicate current secured tax
bill; and pay the current secured tax bill by telephone with either Visa, Mastercard, or
Discover Card (a Aconvenience fee@ is added to each authorized transaction) by calling our
Property Tax Information and Credit Card Payment System at (909)955-3900 or (760) 863-8900
for the desert area. This system is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. You must know
your ten-digit assessment number in order to access this system. You may also visit our

Under California law, it is the
responsibility of each property owner to obtain current year tax bills and to make the tax
payment on or before December 10th and April 12th. Under State law, penalties cannot be
excused due to failure to receive a bill.
